Gradient Troubles!
I'm using Colorburst 8.2, printing on a VutekQS2000. Having troubles with my gradient going out of gammit. The gradients will be blotchy and not smooth. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks.

A few questions/suggestions:
1. are you using custom envs or stock? 2. Please try loading a few stock environments and print out the calibrat.eps file inside your test images folder in the ColorBurst directory. 3. Use smooth blends only (changing to high quality requires reprofiling) 4. Also try setting your sharpness level to 3 in the Color Adjustments --> ink limits Please let us know what the gradient results are. We can instruct you where to go from there. |

I am using a custom env. I also use smooth blends and have my sharpness at 3. Where do you load stock env? Will the material matter? I have created a few env for certain materials, Do I need to do a lin for each material I use?
Thanks for your help! |

There should be a dropdown menu that lists the paper environments, by selecting an environment we provided with the original install, you can print to the current media you have loaded and see if you are getting the same blotchiness. This is not for color accuracy, but merely to determine if the issue lies in the custom env/profile, or in something else.

After printing the Calibration test using stock environments, i found that the stock environments had a very smooth gradient, i also printed my custom environment and the gradients was not smooth. There was a noticable change in the gradient instead of smoothly changing.
Just a general question about gradients. When we use illistraor or photoshop to create our images does it matter what type of file for a gradient? Usually we use a eps. Just curious if that matters? |

The problem is most likely the profile. Please try starting from our stock environment to create a new profile or reprofile your current custom environment.

Would you suggest creating a profile for all the different medias I use or is one profile going to be good for all materials?

A separate profile for each media is not required with the Vutek machines. I suggest contacting Vutek for further information into this particular question.

If there are any new ENVs these would have to come from Vutek. Please contact Mike Morrison or Chuck Messervey at Vutek, NH to see what's available.

Hei, I got this issue too. I'm printing with a Vutek 3360 SC and Colorburst 8.2. The stock env has smooth gradients while my custom profile doesn't.
I'm using Triangle TRA ink. |
